At the end of 2008, Cropland Biodiesel installed two 50 ton and two 10 ton oil presses at Willamette Biomass Processors in Rickreall, OR. In March of 2010, at 8,000+ hours the wear parts were replaced.

Other Biodiesel Benefits

One of the byproducts of this process is the leftover meal that has been removed from the seed. The meal has up to twenty-five to fifty percent protein depending on the crop. The meal is an excellent feed for beef, swine, poultry, and other livestock. For example, sunflower has about twenty-five percent protein while soybean has about forty-five percent. The meal being produced from the crop is worth up to $200 to $500 dollars a ton. One ton of canola makes approximately 110 gallons of biofuel.
